April 15, The Will of God

Today’s reading: Psalms 71-75

“You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory” - Psalm 73:24.

God is a God of guidance. If He wants you to do His will — and of course He does — then He must reveal to you what His will is. God is a great communicator and does not lack the means to reveal Himself to you. He can use His word, other people, or life’s circumstances. The key to understanding God’s will is committing to do it, whatever it is, before you know what it is. In other words, you surrender your “veto power” and say ‘yes,’ trusting that whatever He shows you is good and in your best interests. This principle is found in John 7:17 when Jesus answered the question, “How do we know if you [Jesus] are from God? [Jesus answered] ‘Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.’” Are you struggling with the will of God as you consider a certain issue or decision? Have you made a commitment to do it before you know what the ‘it’ is? Do you believe that God will make it clear? Lord, I want and need to know Your will for my life. I ask You today to reveal it to me, and I trust that You not only hear me but will also answer. I have tuned my heart to hear, and will not allow fear or doubt to hinder hearing Your response!
