April 4, Your Role
Today’s reading: Psalms 16-20
“To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious you show yourself shrewd. You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty” - Psalm 18:7-9.
In a sense, you help direct how God responds to you by first responding to Him in the similar manner. If you are faithful, God shows Himself faithful. If you are blameless, He is blameless. If you are devious, He responds as shrewd. If you are humble, He saves you. If you are proud, He brings you low. This list is not meant to be exhaustive but only points out the role you have in your relationship with Him. Therefore, if you are not happy with how God is revealing Himself to you, then perhaps the problem rests with you. Are you experiencing lack? Then perhaps you are not being generous. Are your prayers not being answered? Then maybe you are not listening to God first and foremost, so He is not listening to you. Take some time today and reflect on the truth in this passage, and then do some serious self-evaluation to see if you are contributing to your current state of a less-than-satisfactory relationship with the Lord in any area of life.
