August 5, The Covenant

Today’s reading: Psalm 21-25

“The Lord confides in those who fear him;
he makes his covenant known to them” - Psalm 25:14.

God wants to share His “secrets” with you, revealing to you who He is and what He is doing in the earth. He especially wants to reveal to you His covenant ways, showing you the riches of the benefits for you a participant in His new covenant. One aspect of the covenant is described in Deuteronomy, and it has to do with wealth and the need to be faithful to the Lord:

You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed (Deuteronomy 8:17-19).

Do you understand that God is a covenant-making and covenant-keeping God? Do you further understand the terms of the covenant or agreement you have made with Him? Are you taking full advantage of the covenant blessings that are yours as a partaker of the covenant?
