February 04, Spiritual War

Today’s reading: Psalms 16-20

“He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze” - Psalm 18:34.

When you become a believer, you inherit many wonderful promises that God stands behind to fulfill. You also inherit a place in God’s army, which means that spiritual warfare becomes a way of life, for often you must do battle against God’s enemy (who has also become yours) to realize the fulfillment of God’s promises. You cannot be passive in this war, but you must aggressively do what Paul wrote about in 2 Corinthians 10:3-6:

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

How is this war playing out in your life right now and are you an active or passive combatant?
