Today’s reading: Psalms 31-35

“The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken” - Psalm 34:19-20.

When I first met the Lord, I held a strange assumption about my new life in Christ: “I will never again have a flat tire!” Somehow, I thought I was exempt from car trouble because of my faith in Jesus. Needless to say, I have had a lot of car trouble since then along with troubles in many other areas of life. God has used those troubles to teach me about His love and ability to deliver me from my troubles, while teaching me trust, patience and empathy for others who are going through troubles. Are you surprised by your troubles? Do you see the role they play in your walk with the Lord? Perhaps Paul’s words will help you as you endure difficult times: “Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. ‘We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God’” (Acts 14:21b-22).
