February 27, Anointed Work

Today’s reading: Psalms 131-135

“For the sake of your servant David, do not reject your anointed one.” - Psalm 132:10

When someone was anointed in the Old Testament, they were marked with oil to indicate that God was with them to perform some special role or task. Today, anointing tends to be restricted in people’s minds to church work, but you are anointed to do whatever God is with you to do, which is your life purpose. Isaiah described Cyrus, a heathen king, in the following manner: “This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut” (Isaiah 45:1 emphasis added). What are you anointed to do? What activity or role do you perform when you sense God is with you in a special way? If you are not sure, then pay attention and allow God to show you!
