January 05, His Kingdom Rule
Today’s Reading: Psalms 21-25
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters” - Psalm 24:1-2.
God is the Lord over all people and all things, whether those people acknowledge Him or not. The things over which He rules include every area of life and culture such as business, education, social work, banking, government, church, entertainment, music, and science. Since He is Lord, He has the right to rule and declare His will as he sees fit. The Lord Jesus’ first words when He began His ministry were, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near” (Matthew 4:17). In that one statement, Jesus expressed His mission on earth and that was to proclaim, embody, and establish God’s government over what already belonged to the Father. When you repent of building your own kingdom and come to the Lord, you accept your role to extend God’s Kingdom rule into the spheres mentioned above, according to your purpose assignment. What is your Kingdom assignment? Do you see that you are here to do more than attend church services? Do you understand that you are God’s Kingdom representative where you work, in your family, and in your neighborhood? What implications does being a representative have for your attitude and behavior?
