January 22, Hope for the Future by Remembering the Past
Today’s reading: Psalm 106-110
“But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold” - Psalm 106:13-14.
It can be difficult to wait for God to reveal His will for your life, especially when you don’t know what is ahead or how long you have to go on waiting. You can help yourself in the process by remembering God’s faithfulness to you in the past, recounting how He acted previously. If God has never failed you, then chances are He is not about to start now! Doing that should help you as you wait for Him to paint the big picture that reveals where you fit in and what He wants you to do. These words from Isaiah can also help you while you are in God’s waiting room: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31). Hope in the Lord and never lose sight of the fact that He cares for you. Father, I thank You that you do care for me and You always have. Forgive me when I have doubted Your love and faithfulness. Help me to know how long I should wait and what I should do while I am waiting. Lord, I promise to remember what You have done for me by sharing it with others, and thanking You for Your love on a regular basis.
