January 27, Reconciliation

Today’s reading: Psalms 131-135

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” - Psalm 133:1.

There is power in reconciliation and harmony, which is why our great enemy the devil stirs up so much animosity, hatred, and misunderstanding—and often has a willing partner in our fallen nature. Your job is to make sure that none of those emotions creep into any of your relationships. Where those already exist, you must repent and work to remove them wherever and whenever you can, as Jesus directed you to do: “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift” (Matthew 5:23-24). Do you see the value and power in unity? Can you see why our enemy works to create disunity and disharmony? Is there anything you can do today to be reconciled with anyone from whom you are estranged? Anything you can do to facilitate and promote unity among believers?
