June 5, God’s Will

Today’s reading: Psalms 21-25

“Who, then, are those who fear the Lord?
He will instruct them in the ways they should choose”
- Psalm 25:12.

If your desire is to know God’s will, then you will do so, for you cannot do what you do not know. This requires that you sincerely desire to know His will, which can be tricky because it involves trust and overcoming fear. If you truly commit to God’s will before you know what it is, your next step is to overcome the fear that He will have you do something radical or totally out of character for you. The promise remains, however, that if you ask, then He will reveal His will, as Isaiah explained:

Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it” (Isaiah 30:20-21).

Is fear of the answer keeping you from seeking God’s will? Do you really believe He can reveal and you will hear His will? Are you afraid of what He will show you, thus shutting yourself off from truly hearing?
