March 14, The Great Commission

Today’s reading: Psalms 66-70

“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us—so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations” - Psalm 67:1-2.

You pray for God’s blessings, not simply for your own benefit, but for your ability to help spread the gospel to other people and nations. In the midst of life — raising children, doing jobs, building local churches — you still have one overriding assignment, and that is to go to the nations to declare the good news. Jesus Himself gave you what is called The Great Commission: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). What are you doing to contribute toward a foreign missions outreach? Are you praying? Are you going? Are you giving toward those who go? Choose a nation or people group today and ask God to help you reach them with the gospel.
