March 7, Injustice

Today’s reading: Psalms 31-35

“For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love” - Psalm 33:4-5.

There are many who ask, “Where is God?” when they behold evil in the earth. Today’s passage answers the question: He is right here! The earth is full of His unfailing love, for as bad as it seems, it would be much worse if God did not hold back the tide of evil. When Job and his friends questioned where God was in Job’s situation, the Lord rebuked them and said:

Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?” (Job 38:2-7).

Do you ever question of God’s goodness in the midst of inequities? Do you see God’s greatness even in the midst of sorrow and suffering? If you have, are you prepared to help correct what you see rather than insinuating that somehow God is to blame? Lord, forgive me, for I have questioned You and Your motives in the midst of the injustices I have seen. Give me Your perspective of the situation, and then show me how I can get involved to be Your agent of healing concerning that problem.
