October 5, Little by Little

Today’s reading: Psalms 21-25

“Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty” - Psalm 21:5.

Yesterday we looked at your need to fight for the blessings God has in store for you. Today, we see the rest of the story, and that is that God gives you the victory in Christ. After the battle, God shares some of His glory with His servants who engage in the fight and see it through to the end. In Exodus, God shared His strategy for His people taking the land He had promised:

I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run. I will send the hornet ahead of you to drive the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites out of your way. But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land (Exodus 23:27-30).

Are you experiencing victory in your life? Is it going more slowly than you would like? Could it be that God is doing it little by little for the reasons mentioned in the Exodus passage? Can you thank God for the ultimate victory He promised, even if you can’t see it in its totality today?
