Purpose Study Bible 319: Beauty with Purpose

One verse in the Bible can tell us so much and that is certainly true of Esther 2:7, which we have looked at for the last two studies:

"This young woman, who was also known as Esther, had a lovely figure and was beautiful."

Esther was beautiful and shapely, which is how the Bible describes her. This was nothing over which she could be proud, for she had nothing to do with her looks. God had created her the way she was, just like He has created you. Your entire being was God's idea, including your personality, gifts, and creative purpose. And you are as beautiful to God as Esther was to those who beheld her.

Yet, we don't know how Esther felt about herself. Perhaps she beheld her own image and wasn't pleased with what she saw or perhaps took herself for granted, not stopping to consider her beauty of God's purpose for it. Again, the same can be true for you. You draw or paint or sew or sing, and others compliment you, but you don’t see it as anything special. It's just a part of who you are and it naturally flows from your being. However, not everyone, in fact very few can do what you or be who you are. When you express who you truly are, you are every bit as remarkable as Esther.

Where does your beauty lie? What can you do that's easy for you, but impresses others when you do it? What causes people's heads to turn when you flow in the essence of who you are? God doesn't want you to hide who you are. He doesn't want you to take it for granted. He wants you to shine, to be the best you that you can be. Remember, you didn’t loan your life to the Lord—you gave it to Him. Therefore, He can use you as He sees fit, and He will use every bit of who He made you to be, just like He did Esther, if you will cooperate and allow Him to do so.
