Purpose Study Bible 325: Touch His Scepter
Esther had warned Mordecai that if anyone approached the king without being summoned to do so, it could prove to be fatal. So the people prayed and Esther summoned her courage and went to see the king:
On the third day of the fast, Esther put on her royal robes and entered the inner court of the palace, just across from the king’s hall. The king was sitting on his royal throne, facing the entrance. When he saw Queen Esther standing there in the inner court, he welcomed her and held out the gold scepter to her. So Esther approached and touched the end of the scepter (Esther 5:1-2, NLT).
There is no more beautiful image of prayer than this one, for the same is true for you and me. When we approach God in prayer, He welcomes us, extends His scepter, and we enter in. This is reminiscent of what we read in Hebrews 4:16 (NLT):
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
This is vital for your creative purpose, for Jesus promised,
"You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name" (John 15:16).
Are you going into God's presence with confidence like Esther did? Are you praying bold prayers when you do? Are you conscious that your access to God is to bear fruit and produce testimonies as you express your creative purpose? Like Esther, you have unlimited and safe access to the throne of the King. Make sure you make the most of it.
