Today’s reading: Psalms 36-40

“Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure”
- Psalm 39:4-5.

As I write, I am almost 66 years of age. I am asking, “Where have the years gone?” I am not complaining, for I have lived a rich, full life, but of course I hope I have many years remaining. Today, however, may be my last day, for I am not guaranteed anything beyond this very minute. With that in mind and while looking at today’s passage, I want to make the most of every day I have left, doing what is in my heart to do and being as productive as possible. Is that your attitude? Are you putting off doing things in your heart, acting like you have ten, twenty or thirty years more? If you knew that you had two years to live, what would you be doing? You must act with that kind of urgency every day if you are going to make your mark and leave a legacy for others to follow and remember.
