Purpose Study Bible 309: Learning New Things

Ruth had left her homeland with her mother-in-law, which means she had to learn new customs. She had to become like a child and learn new things that everyone else around her already knew. However, God was with here, just as He is with you. He was leading her even though she wasn't conscious of His guidance, just as He is doing with you. He was protecting her when she probably didn't know she needed protection. And He used Naomi to counsel Ruth, just as He has provided and will provide advisors for you:

Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, “It will be good for you, my daughter, to go with the women who work for him, because in someone else’s field you might be harmed" (Ruth 2:22).

Ruth was not alone on her creative purpose journey and neither are you. God is with you and He will send others to watch over you. Even when He brings significant change into your life as Ruth experienced, He will be your guide. You are not alone--never have been and never will be.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39).

In what area of your life do you need to be reminded of the truths in this entry? Where have you forgotten that you are not flying solo, that God is with you? How should this affect your pursuit and expression of your creative purpose? Be encouraged from Ruth's example of how she responded to change and God covering for her. Then embrace the changes that God has introduced into your life as a means to learn more about Him so you can trust Him even more.
