The Simple Things
"I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts" (Exodus 31:3-5).
Yesterday we saw that God had filled Bezalel with His Spirit. Today's passage tells us why: Bezalel was created to be creative with his hands in making all kinds of crafts with metal, wood, precious stones, and material. God gave that man creative wisdom and understanding into how he could work with God's raw material to make finished products for the use of God's people.
Did you know that God was into arts and crafts? Do you see that God gives the materials and the wisdom, but you must do the work to produce the finished product? What other creative expressions might there be that God could impart to someone like you? Are you ready to accept those, no matter how mundane or simple they may be, as something He has mandated you do?
Lord, I never thought of the simple things I do, such as knitting, poetry, baking, metal works, beads, jewelry, or gardening as activities that You not only ordained but also are involved in to make them special with unique expressions that flow through my hands and perspective. I accept these as your gift to me, and I vow to use them under your direction more fully than I have up to this point in time.
