September 23, A Leadership Blessing
Today’s reading: Psalms 111-115
“The Lord remembers us and will bless us: He will bless his people Israel, he will bless the house of Aaron, he will bless those who fear the Lord—small and great alike”
- Psalm 115:12-13.
You get the idea from these verses that the Lord is in the “blessing” business, for the psalmist indicated that God was all about blessing every aspect of life in Israel. It is interesting that He singles out the house of Aaron, which is seldom mentioned as a house, since they were the priests of the priests—the nephews of Moses designated to be the high priests in Israel. It’s almost like God was saying by singling them out, “I see your service and there is a special blessing for you as you serve me and My people.” Paul indicated that anyone who desires to lead God’s’ people desires a good thing: “Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task” (1 Timothy 3:1). Can we deduce from all this that there is a special and unique blessing for those who choose to willingly and eagerly serve as leaders in God’s house?
